Mark your calendars, because director David Fincher’s THE FURTHER MIS-ADVENTURES OF CLIFF BOOTH will be coming to IMAX theaters globally for an exclusive two-week run starting November 25, before debuting on Netflix on December 23. But for now, you can watch the trailer, below.

Murder, blackmail, theft, extortion — just another summer in Hollywood. It’s 1977, eight years since Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) encountered the Manson family in Quentin Tarantino’s parallel history of 1969, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. In THE FURTHER MIS-ADVENTURES OF CLIFF BOOTH, directed by Fincher from a new script by Tarantino, the fairytale is over. Los Angeles no longer needs a hippie-slaying stuntman the way it did. But Hollywood will always have problems, problems that can only be solved by someone with Cliff’s unique (occasionally extralegal) abilities. When he’s not earning his keep bartending or as a projectionist, Cliff Booth is a fixer — solving situations for Hollywood’s great and the, sometimes, not so good.

He’s curious when he gets a call from talent agent Karen Crosby (Elizabeth Debicki), on behalf of her client, TV megastar Charlie Peters (Scott Caan) — a man known for doing his own stunts. And he’s further entertained and intrigued when he meets other characters in Charlie’s world, from his knowing wife Toni (Carla Gugino) to pro football champion turned screen star Roderick “Hot Rod” Harrison (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). Then there are the Verdusco brothers (Matt Groove and JB Tadena), mysterious gangsters causing mayhem across the city. What was once a fairytale is now a crime story — a cocktail of violence, ambition, and desire that could only happen in LA.

Discover whether the further adventures — or mis-adventures — of Cliff Booth end happily ever after on November 25 in IMAX, and on December 23 on Netflix.

THE FURTHER MIS-ADVENTURES OF CLIFF BOOTH also stars Peter Weller, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian, and will be produced by Pitt and Ceán Chaffin. In addition to Pitt and Chaffin, the film’s creative team includes Fincher’s longtime collaborators, like Erik Messerschmidt, ASC, as director of photography, and Donald Graham Burt as production designer. It’s edited by Kirk Baxter, ACE, with casting by Laray Mayfield. Trish Summerville is costume designer, Ren Klyce is sound designer, and Dave Macomber is stunt coordinator.

Academy Award-winning writer and director Bong Joon Ho is busy with development for his first-ever animated feature, Ally, an animated ocean adventure co-written by Bong and Jason Yu, set to make a big splash worldwide next year.

However, after taking some time to celebrate his exhibit at the Academy Museum, where Bong got to pick David Fincher‘s brain, he spoke with Collider‘s Steve Weintraub about his favorite films from fellow filmmakers like Martin Scorsese and Guillermo del Toro, why his Q&A with Fincher was so meaningful, and what’s on the agenda for the rest of the year and beyond, including an exciting update on his next live-action film.

‘Zodiac’: David Fincher Won’t Deny The Obsessive Rap, Says It “Should Have Been Weirder” & Teases ‘Cliff Booth’ “Big Surprises”

Bong Joon Ho’s Academy Museum conversation with David Fincher turned into a sharp look back at Zodiac and a brief but revealing update on Netflix’s Quentin Tarantino-written Cliff Booth film.

Very few crime movies get more revered with age. David Fincher’s 2007 thriller Zodiac, written by James Vanderbilt and following the way the Zodiac killer case pulls inspectors, reporters, and cartoonist Robert Graysmith into a years-long spiral of obsession, did. With Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Jr. anchoring that descent, the film opened as a chilly, meticulous procedural and has kept growing in stature over the years, less because it offered closure than because it turned uncertainty, fixation, and spiritual erosion into the point. So it made perfect sense that Bong Joon Ho would be the filmmaker hosting a 4K screening at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and a post-film conversation with Fincher recently as part of the museum’s A Weekend With Bong Joon Ho series.

Bong Joon Ho made that admiration plain right away. After recalling how immaculate Fincher’s office was—even down to the colored pencils arranged by shade—he got to the question underneath that story: whether Fincher’s obsessiveness really matched its reputation. Fincher did not deny it. If anything, he leaned into it, saying, “No, I mean… Look, I feel like you should do everything in your power to be as clear in what you’re trying to communicate as you can possibly be.”

How Tom Rothman Won The War For Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time … In Hollywood’

Jay Glennie
October 16, 2025
Deadline

Editor’s note:

From the moment 1992’s Reservoir Dogs launched him like a supernova, Quentin Tarantino‘s career was intertwined with Harvey and Bob Weinstein. From Pulp Fiction to Inglourious Basterds, Kill Bill and the rest, Tarantino stayed monogamous as their cornerstone auteur until The Weinstein Company imploded and it was time for him to seek a new studio to hang his hat. This created the most hotly contested courtship Hollywood had seen in years.

In a chapter from his new book The Making of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (Insight Editions), out October 28, author Jay Glennie details the seduction process and how Tom Rothman‘s passion — which included ensuring Tarantino retained the deal he had across all his films (including Django Unchained which Sony released internationally), that gives him back his copyright after 20 years — won Sony not only that global hit movie, but also most likely the 10th and final film Tarantino is working on now.
